College Prep: Getting Ready for College   PARENTS AND TEENS

Learn about the college admissions process.  Learn how to assess what college is right for you. Learn the difference between the different type of applications and acceptances.  Getting in a college may be easy for most students, but getting your child into the right college for him or her takes time, effort and strategy.

PTSA is Requesting Assistance with:
• Providing bake goods for Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – April 15, 2010.
• Need 10’ x 10’  dry storage space for book sale items from April 10 to November 15th 2010.

• Need parents to become committee chairmen and officers.

 PTSA Supports Student Activities
Throughout the year, the Robinson PTSA supported student enrichment opportunities and school activities. One such activity that Robinson the PTSA supported was the Robinson Partners Club.  Members of the Partners Club reported back to the PTSA at the March meeting as the funding they received was being used.  This program and financial reporting was an excellent opportunity for the PTSA Board to hear and see how the $$s were being used and learn more about how the Partners Club. (Picture Attached)  The PTSA encourages student groups to come to the PTSA Board and General Membership meetings.

 PTSA Advocates for Robinson Students
The School Board Budget going forward to the Board of Supervisors maintains class size, maintains freshman sports and does not include any reduction to middle school and high school counselors and/or social workers. With countywide advocacy efforts, the majority of the Board of Supervisors voted to consider raising the tax rate by a maximum of 8 cents.

Now we must lobby the Board of Supervisors to commit to the increased tax rate and fund the school budget presented by the school board.  Please contact Chairman Sharon Bulova, Supervisor Cook and Supervisor Herrity and ask them to transfer the appropriate $$ needed to fund the school budget approved by our School Board.  Right now, both Supervisor Herrity and Cook are not inclined to fund the school budget as presented by your elected school board.  Without documentation, they believe that the school system can be a world class school system with less $$ and that you would not know the difference. If you followed the School Board Budget Debates, you know this is not the case.

So call and write your supervisor now!

o       Board of Supervisors, Chairman, Sharon Bulova, 703-324-2321, https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/gov/bos/cforms/bc_feedback.asp,

o       Braddock Supervisor John Cook, 703-425-9300,  braddock@fairfaxcounty.gov

o       and/or Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity, 703-451-8873, springfield@fairfaxcounty.gov

Communicating with the Chairman and the supervisors (listed above) can make a difference.

Let us join together to continue to provide a strong education that every Robinson student deserves.

Remember if we don’t speak up and look out for our own children, how can we expect someone else to?
