Scholarships for Graduating Robinson Seniors

Each Spring, Robinson PTSA offers Seniors the opportunity to apply for two scholarships:

  • Elaine Heenan Memorial Scholarship for Volunteerisn
     
  • Friends Scholarship for Involvement in Activities at Robinson

Elaine Heenan Memorial Scholarship for Volunteerism

The Elaine Heenan Memorial Scholarship is given annually in memory of Mrs. Elaine Heenan. Mrs. Heenan was a long time extremely dedicated volunteer at Robinson Secondary who died of cancer in June 1985. Five of her six children are Robinson graduates. Her youngest daughter graduated in 1985 just a few days prior to Mrs. Heenan's death. This scholarship,which the PTSA has awarded every year since 1985, will be awarded based on demonstrated exemplary achievement and an ongoing commitment to provide volunteer service to the school and/or the community. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 13, 2012.

Friends Scholarship for Involvement in Activities at Robinson

The Friends Scholarship is presented annually in memory of all Robinson students and graduates whose lives ended before they had the opportunity to realize their full potential. The Friends Scholarship will be awarded based primarily on a student's involvement in activities at Robinson throughout grades 9-12.  The deadline for applications is Friday, April 13, 2012.

VIRGINIA PTA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Virginia PTA is proud to offer scholarships to graduating Virginia high school students planning to enter teaching or other youth serving professions. Each year, two special scholarships are given. A $1,200 scholarship memorializes M. Frieda Koontz, the Executive Secretary of the SCA from 1922-1950. Another $1,200 scholarship honors S. John Davis, Virginia’s Superintendent of Schools from 1979-1989. Additional $1,000 scholarships complete the awards.
 Important Details:
•  student must be planning to pursue a career in teaching or qualifying for service with a youth serving agency
•  student must enter a Virginia college or university in September following the date of application for the scholarship
•  student must have an average of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.0) or better
•  the scholarship is based on financial need and academic achievement
•  Complete application (see link below) and 3 letters of recommendation
•  Return completed application to Career Center by February 15 (in order to submit packet to state by March 1 deadline)
 COMPLETE PACKET MUST BE POST MARKED March 1. You must have all the information to the Career Center by Febuary 15 to submit packet to state.
